Description:

Mendocino County Counsel’s Office is accepting applications to fill an immediate vacancy for the position of Deputy County Counsel – Juvenile Dependency. This position represents the Health and Human Services Agency, Department of Family and Children’s Services, in all juvenile dependency matters. The ideal candidate must have strong trial advocacy and writing skills. The position requires witness preparation and trial presentation for the litigation of juvenile dependency proceedings and the ability to research and write appeals and writs.

Qualifications:

This is an at-will position requiring graduation from an accredited law school and licensure to practice law in California. Experience or coursework in juvenile dependency or a closely related field would be preferred for a Deputy I; two years of experience as a civil or governmental attorney for Deputy II and three years of experience for the Deputy III or IV is required. Experience in juvenile dependency proceedings is preferred.
