$4,579 – $9,580 monthly (depending on experience)

Description:

The Office of the County Counsel provides legal advice to the Board of Supervisors and various County departments and agencies. General Services attorneys craft ordinances and policies, negotiate contracts, comment on legislation, and help the County departments and officials they advise to solve problems. Attorneys in the General Services division also participate in civil litigation involving the County and provide advice on programs of significant importance to the County and the broader community. Courtroom experience representing a public agency in California is preferred.

Qualifications:

•Must be an active member of the California State bar.Civil and administrative law and procedures.
• Procedures and practices and effective techniques in presentation of court cases.
• Judicial procedures and rules of evidence.
• Principles, methods and techniques of legal research and investigation.
• State and federal laws and constitutional provisions affecting County agencies’ operation.
• Responsibilities and obligations of public officials and administrative agencies.
• County governmental organization, structure and functional responsibilities.
• Rules of procedure governing the conduct of hearings before administrative bodies.
