Description:

The Deputy Director of Planning, Building, and Environmental Services (PBES) directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Planning Division within the Planning Building, and Environmental Services Department, including advanced and current planning, conservation, zoning administration, and resource management. The Deputy Director of PBES will oversee those responsible for reviewing and processing development proposals, guide the preparation of ordinance and policy documents, and ensure implementation of General Plan and Strategic Plan objectives. The Deputy Director provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director and Assistant Director of Planning, Building, and Environmental Services.

Qualifications:

Experience – Six years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the planning field, including a minimum of four years of management and/or supervisory responsibility.

Education – A Bachelor’s degree from a four year accredited college or university with major course work in planning, geography, engineering, economics, public administration or a closely related field. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for a 4 year degree on a year for year basis.)
