Description:

The San Bernardino County Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshal, is recruiting for a Deputy Fire Marshal to manage and oversee the Hazardous Materials and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Divisions. Management responsibilities include formulating administrative policies to function under the direction of the Fire Marshal and governing bodies of contract jurisdictions, overseeing the Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) and HHW collection events, including related education activities, through subordinate supervisors. This position will provide relief oversight for the Community Safety Division in the absence of the assigned manager.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in Environmental Health, Fire Science, Public or Business Administration, Public Health, Hazardous Materials, Industrial Hygiene, a physical or biological science, or a closely related field; AND Two (2) years of experience as a manager or supervisor with primary responsibility for developing and coordinating programs/activities, implementing policies and procedures, and assisting with budget administration in a fire department or environmental health agency.
