Description:

The Contra Costa County Employees’ Retirement Association (CCCERA), located in Concord, CA, has an exceptional opportunity for a Deputy General Counsel to perform varied professional legal work with emphasis on the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 (CERL) and the California Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA); analyze Board of Retirement policies, regulations and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable statutes; make recommendations and advise senior level staff on both day-to-day and emerging issues specific to retirement; prepare a diverse range of legal documents such as pleadings, motions, opinions and contracts; and perform related work as required.

Contra Costa County Employees’ Retirement Association is a defined benefit pension plan covering the employees of the County of Contra Costa and other participating agencies. CCCERA employs approximately 50 staff, and is governed by a twelve member Board of Retirement.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a graduate from an accredited school of law with five years of progressively responsible legal program experience, including presentation of legal arguments before administrative hearings, writ of mandate proceedings, arbitrations, mediations or other similar proceedings. Must have current membership in the State Bar of California and be licensed to appear before Federal and State Courts in California.
