Marin County seeks a Deputy Human Resources Director who will oversee the labor and employee relations and benefit services units of the Human Resources Department. Principal among the Deputy Director’s duties will be to serve as the County’s Chief Labor Negotiator. To be successful in this transparent, inclusive and collaborative organization, ideal candidates will have negotiated public sector labor agreements and have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and emotional intelligence.

Qualifications:

• Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and abilities listed. Typically, equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major coursework in business, public administration, human resources, or related field; AND four years of professional human resources experience which has included management supervisory or administrative experience.
• Experience in a public agency operating a merit system, or in a union environment is highly desirable.
• A track record of creating hands-on trust relationships with stakeholders.
