$193,008 – $247,637 Annually DOE

Description:

Reporting to the Health Officer/Director, the Deputy Public Health Officer acts as the Infectious Disease and Response Branch Director, with overall administrative and programmatic responsibility for the Infectious Disease and Response Branch, which includes Communicable Disease Prevention and Control (including the Immunization Program), Tuberculosis Prevention and Control, STD/HIV Prevention and Control, Public Health Disaster Preparedness and Response, Public Health Laboratory, and Public Health Pharmacy.

The position is responsible for shaping and leading all aspects of the Infectious Disease & Response branch, including strategic direction and administrative oversight. The Deputy Public Health Officer will serve as backup for the Health Officer and Assistant Health Officers and will act as the medical/physician liaison to other County departments.

Qualifications:

A qualified candidate must be a physician licensed in California and Board Certified in an appropriate medical specialty (e.g. Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Family Medicine). A successful candidate will possess at least seven (7) years of post-residency experience in disease control or public health, at least three (3) of which involved significant administrative and managerial responsibilities. A Master’s degree in Public Health or completion of the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service, and/or Board Certification in Infectious Disease, is highly desirable.
