Description:

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office currently has an exceptional opportunity for a Director of Finance to be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all significant fiscal and administrative functions for the Sheriff’s Office, including the management of the $211 million dollar budget. Additionally, the Director supervises 20 employees including 3 Managers over finance, budget, and grants/contracts, 2 Supervisors, 1 Accountant and 10 Office Support staff. The Director also oversees the financial operations and the fiscal staff of two task force operations and the forensic laboratory located at three off-site locations, and maintains fiduciary responsibility for two federal initiatives. As a member of the Sheriff’s Command staff, the Director provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to senior level management.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have more than three years of responsible experience performing a wide variety of financial and administrative duties in a large, complex public agency, including demonstrated experience managing and coaching staff, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, public administration or related field.
