The Director of DHHS is an at-will position that reports to the Board of Supervisors and has a daily administrative reporting relationship to the County Administrative Officer (CAO). This position oversees $165 million operating budget and leads an executive team who oversee a staff of approximately 1,200. This position leads the overall departmental mission and vision, policy development, organizational structure, program planning, fiscal management, administration and operation of the Department of Health and Human Services, and supports furthering countywide goals and objectives. The Director of DHHS works collaboratively with a variety of County departments and public and private community stakeholders in developing and implementing programs and evaluating systems to meet community needs. 

Qualifications:

• A degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in health administration, psychology, social work, substance abuse, business administration, public administration, or a related field; an advanced degree is desirable.
• Seven years of progressively responsible management and administrative experience in a complex health, behavioral health or social service organization within a public and/or non-profit organization; California health and human services experience desirable.
• Valid California Driver’s license at the time of hire.
