Description:

The County of Monterey is seeking an experienced, progressive, proactive human resources administrator to be the County’s Director of Human Resources. The Board of Supervisors created a Human Resources Department in the County Administrative Office to administer all County-wide human resources functions. The Director of Human Resources is appointed by and reports directly to the Assistant County Administrative Officer. The Director is a key member of the County’s executive team and provides leadership and direction to Department managers responsible for administering a merit system and human resources functions in compliance with State and Federal employment laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or Personnel Administration, or closely related field, and five years of progressively responsible Human Resources Management experience, including three years of public sector experience in an executive or management capacity. California human resources management experience is highly desirable.
