Description:

The County of Riverside is recruiting nationally for a highly experienced, innovative, progressive and collaborative Director of Public Social Services. The position will be responsible for approximately 4,200 staff and will oversee a budget of over $1.8 billion. The ideal candidate will be a progressive, highly experienced professional who enjoys working in a fast paced and complex environment. The Director of Public Social Services has the overall responsibility for policy development, program planning, fiscal management, administration, and coordination of programs and services, implementing, operational and organizational change; and developing social services policy recommendations at the local, State, and Federal levels.

Qualifications:

Education: A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, majoring in public/business administration, social welfare, social or behavioral sciences, or social/human services. Two years of additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the graduate level education.

Experience: This position requires four years of experience in private or public agency social service programs in management, administrative, executive, or consulting capacity or four years of high-level executive or administrative experience evaluating, administering, and controlling varied types of large social service programs.

California experience is a definite plus although all highly qualified candidates on a national level will be given full consideration.
