The annual salary range is $145,117 – $176,382

Description:

The Director of Regional Parks is appointed by the Board of Supervisors and works under their general policy direction. The Director also works collaboratively with the County Administrator and other department directors. The Director leads the department’s efforts in planning and operating county regional parks and recreational facilities; develops and leads funding and community outreach strategies; organizes and directs location and acquisition development; preserves and educates the public on the parks’ natural resources; oversees the scheduling and conducting of events and maintenance of facilities; and is responsible for the overall administrative management of the Regional Parks Department.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be someone who is visionary and passionate about parks and the natural environment, and be an effective steward of regional parks facilities for the citizens of Sonoma County. Extensive experience managing, planning, developing, maintaining and operating park and recreational facilities, and proven success as a leader and general administrator in a public organization are a must. The ideal candidate will be able to understand budgetary challenges and have a demonstrated track record of advocacy and successful fundraising.

The expected qualifications for this position include significant professional level experience.
