Description:

The County of Santa Clara seeks an experienced leader of excellent character and integrity who reflects the vision and shares the mission of the Deputy County Executive with oversight for Risk Management. A proven ability in leading a diverse Risk Management organization with a wide-range of obligations is essential. This position is integral to effective communication the diverse County workforce. The Director of Risk Management must be adept in directing self-insured liability and workers compensation insurance programs. Additionally, he/she should have an understanding of the County’s budgeting process, be creative in staffing plans and extremely knowledgeable of personnel matters.

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate would typically possess considerable training and management or administrative experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s or higher level degree in public or business administration and at least four (4) years private or public managerial and administrative experience in the management and direction of risk management, liability insurance, or workers’ compensation insurance programs for a large and diverse organization.
