The County of Santa Clara seeks a Director, Roads and Airports. This position requires an individual with executive level experience managing staff activities in transportation and public works. This Executive position reports to the County Executive through a Deputy County Executive and is responsible for directing and managing the Roads and Airports Department of the County which includes: Infrastructure Development Division, Road Maintenance Division, Administration and Fiscal Division, and Airport Division.
The ideal candidate would possess Considerable education, training and increasingly responsible experience in civil engineering, including management experience in a large public works or transportation organization, which demonstrates the ability to perform the required tasks. Graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in civil engineering or a related field and eight years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, including at least three years in a management capacity in a large public works or transportation organization. Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California at the time of appointment is required.
