Salary:

$161,029 – $177-556 per year (Additional 3.5% management deifferenatial)

Description:

The Director of Transportation plans, organizes, evaluates, and directs the operations and activities of the Department of Transportation. This position is responsible for all divisions within the department: engineering and planning, finance and administration, and maintenance and operations. The Director of Transportation is responsible for advising and assisting the officials of the County agencies, departments, boards and commissions with respect to matters assigned to the department.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have the following education:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.

Ideal candidates will have the following experience and ability:
Extensive, in depth management experience in the provision of transportation services that includes formulating and implementing comprehensive operational programs, functions, budgets, and administrative operations; Five (5) or more years of experience managing, directing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating a team of professionals performing the full scope of work required within a transportation environment; Experience working within a large governmental jurisdiction; Influence and persuade others to accept a particular viewpoint; Drive, facilitate, and support continuous improvements while creating a positive work place culture; Collaborate and/or negotiate with interested groups and agencies to gain cooperation in support of the department’s goals; Be politically sensitive to challenges and opportunities related to transportation; Analyze complex problems and recommend and implement creative solutions and strategies.

Ideal candidates will have the following certification:
A valid certification of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
