Monterey County seeks an experienced, visionary and entrepreneurial executive to be the County’s Economic Development Director. Monterey County has world class attractions, a spectacular coastline, a thriving agricultural industry, mild climate and great outdoor recreational choices. The Economic Development Director is appointed by the County Administrative Officer (CAO) and provides leadership, administration and direction to highly dedicated Economic Development Department staff responsible for economic development, redevelopment, housing and job creation.
The Director is a key member of the Executive Team; advises and makes recommendations to the CAO and the Board of Supervisors on economic development issues and strategies; and recommends new programs, discontinuance of existing programs, and/or major program modifications to stimulate the County’s economy and jobs.
Requires equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in economics, business, planning or closely related field and five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in economic and employment development. A Graduate degree is highly desirable
