DOQ, currently $134,820 annually

Description:

Under administrative direction of the City Manager, the Engineering Director/City Engineer (ED/CE) will plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Engineering Department, serving as the City’s primary representative for all engineering matters. The ED/CE will interact with the City Council, other government bodies, boards, commissions, and the public on engineering items, some of which may be extremely controversial.

The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional who establishes positive working relationships and is able to develop long-range plans based upon an analysis of the needs and interests of the community, projected future demands, capacity of facilities and funding opportunities; supervise the development and implementation of capital programs. The new ED/CE will possess a strong sense of personal and professional ethics and integrity. 

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, public or business administration, or a related field and eight (8) years of recent, continuous, and progressively responsible professional engineering experience, including three (3) years at the mid-management/supervisory level in a professional engineering organization. Registration as a
Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering in the state of California at time of appointment.
