$81,050.66 to $124,115.81

Description:

Under direction, is responsible for major engineering programs and/or projects; assists in the planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating of varied activities within the section; and performs related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidates will be adept at managing complex, major design and construction of capital improvements for Health Care, Fire, Library and other public works facilities. Experience in the design, construction, and administration of multi-story buildings is a plus. They must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide range of individuals; function calmly in challenging situations with a high degree of tact and diplomacy; and effectively analyze consequences of project decisions and/or recommendations.

Qualifications:

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or equivalent, and a minimum of four (4) years (for Engineering Manager I) to six (6) years (for Engineering Manager II) of qualifying, progressively responsible professional civil engineering experience, including at least one year’s experience as team leader of engineering and technical staff or at least one year of public works project management experience, are required.

Equivalency for the Bachelor’s degree may include: California certification as an Engineer-in-Training (Fundamentals of Engineering) and four (4) years’ civil engineering related experience OR possession of a Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related engineering, physical science, or mathematics curriculum and three (3) years’ civil engineering related experience OR Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California.

◾Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver license.
◾California registration as a Civil Engineer or a license as an Architect in California, is required.


At least two (2) years of capital improvement experience is highly desirable, as is OSHPD experience. Experience in the design, construction, and administration of multi-story buildings is a plus.
