Description:

The Bear Valley Community Services District is currently recruiting for the position of Finance Director.

The Finance Director is a supervisory position, receiving direction from the General Manager and is responsible to plan, organize, direct and supervise District accounting, auditing, accounts payable/receivable, cash collection, general ledger, payroll, purchasing, utility billing and financial reporting; will assist in the planning, development, and control of the District budget; assist the organization to improve business and financial practices and seek out ways to maximize assets, minimize costs and augment revenues.

Bear Valley Springs is a unique gated community located in the mountains of Kern County with miles of equestrian and hiking trails, wildlife, lakes, a golf course and other recreational amenities in a rural atmosphere. District municipal services include: police, water, wastewater, roads, drainage, solid waste, and parks and recreation.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, economics, finance, business or public administration. A Master’s Degree and/or CPA is preferred but not required.

Minimum qualifications include five (5) or more years of increasingly responsible experience in local government or other public sector accounting and finance with at least one (1) year supervisory experience in the public sector. Private sector experience may supplement but not substitute government experience.
