Description:

The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one regular, full-time position in the class of Financial Services Analyst at the Department of Financial Services. Key responsibilities of the position include performing the most complex duties involving the analysis, development, review, coordination and monitoring of the County budget and department budgets, as well as performing other complex fiscal analysis at the Countywide level. An understanding of best financial practices and budgetary principles, as well as the ability to identify and implement improvements to budgetary practices and procedures is essential to be successful in this position. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial planning (including the development of multi-year revenue and expenditure forecasts), strong analytical skills, and the ability to assess complex financial information and identify issues that may bear policy implications. It is expected that incumbents in this class occasionally make presentations to management and elected officials, so it is imperative that the candidate selected for this position possess the ability to convey complex and technical concepts clearly and concisely to a non-technical audience. Government budget and finance experience with a California county and an advanced degree in Public Administration, Economics, Business, Finance, or a closely related field is also preferred.

This position will be assigned to a small work unit that includes the Chief Budget Official and two Financial Services Analysts. Those candidates with a collaborative style will thrive in this team environment. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to customer service, public service, and efficient government administration.

Qualifications:

The employment standards for this position are as follows:

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field;
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience performing budget development, analysis, monitoring, and reporting; and/or other related financial analytical work.
