The salary range for this position goes up to $191,112 and is supplemented by a competitive benefits package.


Alameda County is located on the east side of the San Francisco Bay and is California’s sixth largest county. The Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) serves the cities of San Leandro, Newark, Dublin, Emeryville and Union City, the unincorporated areas of the County as well as the Lawrence Berkeley and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. The Department is supported by approximately 490 authorized positions and a reserve force of 100. Serving a population of roughly 400,000, ACFD receives nearly 32,000 calls for service per year.


The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader in the industry. In-depth knowledge regarding all aspects of the fire service along with exceptional administrative abilities that demonstrate sophistication in financial management will be necessary to succeed. A resourceful, visionary and accessible leader, this Chief must also exhibit outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to be effective. A Bachelor’s degree is required.
