Description:

San Luis Rey Indian Water Authority (SLRIWA) is looking for an experienced, energetic, resourceful executive to be the Authority’s General Manager. The Authority is an intertribal entity consisting of five northern San Diego County Indian Bands. SLRIWA is in the formative stages of implementing all the benefits of the San Luis Rey Water Rights Settlement Act of 1988. The future is very bright and exciting!

The General Manager is appointed by the SLRIWA Board of Directors and works closely with the Board in developing, implementing and managing the Authority’s long and short range water policies, plans, mission, goals, objectives, procedures and work standards.

Qualifications:

Requires a BA in Public Administration, Business Administration, Engineering or related field, and seven years progressive senior management experience in policy development, budgeting, financial management, HR management, project management, contract administration and intergovernmental relations. MA is desired and water resource management experience preferred. Special consideration given American Indians who are members of a federally recognized Indian Tribe. In addition, the General Manager will be a self-starter, enthusiastic and hardworking, able to manage ambiguity and change, ethical and trustworthy, politically sensitive but apolitical, and committed to Tribal service.
