Description:

The General Services Department is an internal support and services department. Over the past several years, the Department has expanded its role and is now engaged in several external community based initiatives centered on energy and sustainability, and the development of a “share service delivery” environment with other public entities. Internally, the Department provides support services to other County departments that in turn provide services directly to the public. The department is engaged in the community and leads a growing and varied number of initiatives with an external customer base and focus.

The Director will lead a dedicated staff, providing a critically important service to the County Administrator, and will be looked upon for leadership in the development and implementation of innovative solutions to all County facility, real estate, and energy conservation issues, as well as other special projects. 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is an experienced and accomplished public sector manager with experience managing programs and services to those provided within the County of Sonoma’s General Services Department. Combined with the program knowledge, the Director will be a strategic thinker, collaborative, have an influential leadership style, be analytical, organizationally and politically astute, and possess excellent communication skills. Minimum requirements include five years of increasingly responsible management experience in a public agency that includes managing and administering programs, services, policies, and procedures, and a Bachelor’s degree in public/business administration, engineering, construction management, architecture, or a closely related field.
