Description:

The Department of Health Services is seeking a skilled and visionary leader for one full-time Human Resources Officer vacancy.

Employing a staff of over 700, the Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest department in the County of Sonoma, providing services to promote and protect the health and well-being of every member of the community. The department has two HR Officers, reporting to the Assistant Director of Health Services. The HR Officers are responsible for leading and supervising the staff performing HR functions for the department; representing the department on various committees; and working with the executive management team to solve personnel issues through consultation, research, analysis, and recommendations.

Depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate, the individual selected will perform one of two roles:

1) Managing and overseeing recruitment and classification, payroll, staff development, and performance management, as well as supervising a team of 2 Department Analysts, 1 Administrative Aide, 3 Payroll Clerks, and 1 Senior Office Assistant.

2) Managing and overseeing employee/labor relations, safety, disability management, and performance management, as well as supervising 2 Department Analysts.

Qualifications:

Qualifications for this position normally include coursework in public and business administration, management, accounting, statistics, hr and 2 years of progressively responsible experience in hr and administrative or fiscal.
