Description:

Reporting to the County Manager, the Human Services Agency Director plans, directs and oversees the functions and activities of the Human Services Agency. With a staff of 763 and an approximate annual budget of $184 million, the selected professional will oversee and administer programs related to job training and education, economic assistance, homeless services, substance abuse prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, and other related services that strengthen families.

In this high visibility role, the Director will serve as an advocate and catalyst for the creation of services that ensure all individuals and families become healthy, productive, contributing members of our community. The ideal candidate will be a visionary and passionate administrator, strategic thinker and planner, proven leader, collaborator and consensus builder, quick and clear thinking, great communicator and listener, approachable, politically astute, team builder, enthusiastic, motivating, inspiring, and dedicated to public service. Successful individuals will have six years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the human services, social welfare, health services or a related field, at least two years of which involved directing, planning, organizing and coordinating social service programs. An educational background equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in social welfare or health administration, public policy, business administration or a related discipline is preferred.
