Description:

The Office of the County Counsel is inviting applications for a Legal Secretary* who performs a variety of legal secretarial duties and provides administrative support services to attorneys in the Office of County Counsel. This position processes or oversees the preparation of legal documents; performs legal research in support of attorneys; schedules meetings, maintains calendars and makes travel arrangements; composes and formats legal documents from dictation and keeps abreast of current legal issues and changes to court regulations or proceedings.

Qualifications:

Experience: Two and a half (2 ½ ) years of recent full-time secretarial work experience in support of professional or administrative position(s) where duties included calendaring, scheduling meetings, composing correspondence, maintaining files and records, preparing agendas and taking minutes of which one (1) year of full-time work experience must include preparing and processing legal documents such as pleadings, briefs and motions under an attorney’s supervision.
NOTE: Duties must be clearly described in the work history section in order to be considered.
Internships, Clerkships and Student experience is not considered work experience.
AND
Typing: 50 w.p.m.

Note: Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Secretary I classification and above. General clerical experience is not qualifying.
