Description:

This position is responsible for performing the more complex and difficult legal assignments which require a high degree of knowledge and skill in a specialized field of law dealing with coordinating and participating in the analysis of State and Federal legislative proposals for the Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA).

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, law, or a related subject and two years’ highly responsible and complex administrative, advisory, or staff experience dealing with the investigation and solution of procedural, legislative, governmental, or similar complex problems requiring a broad knowledge of the County Employees Retirement Law (CERL).

-OR-

Four years’ highly responsible and complex administrative, advisory, or staff experience dealing with the investigation and solution of procedural, legislative, governmental, or similar complex problems requiring a broad knowledge of the County Employees Retirement Law (CERL) at the level of RBSIII or higher.

License:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Desirable Qualifications: 

Demonstrated experience in analyzing, interpreting or implementing provisions of the 1937 Act or other public pension fund statutes.
Demonstrated knowledge of the California legislative process gained through working on public policy issues.
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legislative proposals to determine the impact on a governmental agency.
Experience working with legislative advocates.
Demonstrated experience giving presentations before boards, legislative committees and legislative staff members on public policy issues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
