The Position provides management and leadership to three (3) functional sections in Member Services which is responsible for providing retirement benefits information to members and/or beneficiaries, account maintenance and resolving any problems or complaints. Reporting to the Assistant Executive Officer the position will be responsible for:

Planning, organizing, and directing the work of the Division.

Establishing policies and procedures for the administration of the Division.

Establishing and maintaining working relationships with the public, County Departments, professional organizations, and other governmental jurisdictions.

Reviewing policies, board correspondence, reports, and members correspondence for accuracy validity.

Preparing, analyzing, and making written and oral recommendations to the Executive Office and the Board of Retirement regarding LACERA’s operations, business procedures, and policies and procedures.

Direct the preparation of the division’s budget and develops goals.

Strategic planning and project management of the Division.

Working cooperatively and effectively with other Divisions to facilitate the processes and procedures related to retirement benefits administration.

Qualifications:

Education – A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university* -AND- Four (4) years’ of experience managing a branch or large operation engaged in administering a retirement system, insurance program or other compensation benefit program.
OR


Experience – Two (2) years’ experience in the administration of either retirement accounting or retirement benefits activities of a large complex retirement system at the level of Los Angeles County’s class of Fiscal Officer I, Assistant Division Manager, or higher.

OR

Four (4) years’ experience in a highly responsible and complex administrative or staff capacity analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems of organization, program, procedure, budget or personnel at the level of Los Angeles County’s class of Supervising Administrative Assistant II or higher.
