Bring your payroll expertise to Marin County! The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Marin County Department of Finance are announcing a recruitment for the position of Payroll Manager (Finance Services Supervisor). Under the general direction of the Finance Division Chief, the Payroll Manager (Finance Services Supervisor) leads a staff of 4 full-time employees in the processing of bi-weekly payroll and other related duties.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provides guidance and direction to the payroll team and provides input into performance planning and evaluations of staff.
• Oversees the performance of the payroll software system, including identifying and implementing new functionalities, conducting analysis of operating problems and identifying solutions.
• Evaluates business processes, makes recommendations for and implements improvements.
• Reviews new Memoranda of Understanding and implements necessary procedures so that changes in salary or benefits will be accurately reflected in employees’ pay.
• Plays a key role in implementing a new payroll system for the County. 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience overseeing the processing of a high-volume payroll operation, exceptional communication skills, familiarity with collective bargaining, proven experience in a supervisorial role and experience implementing a payroll system.

Minimum Qualifications: A seven year combination of relevant coursework and professional experience. A typical way of achieving these requirements would be graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, economics, business administration, public administration or a field related to the assignment and three years of increasingly responsible professional experience related to the area of assignment, at least one year of which must have included advanced journey (lead worker) experience.
