Description:

The Director is fully responsible for the administration of the County Planning Department. Plans, organizes, directs, and reviews the activities and operations of the Planning Department including current and advanced planning activities and code enforcement to coordinate assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the County Administrative Officer. The Planning Director leads the County’s Yucca Mountain Repository Assessment Program in coordination with Federal Land Use Agencies.
Receives policy direction from the Board of Supervisors and County Administrative Officer.
Exercises direct supervision over assigned management, professional, supervisory, technical, and clerical personnel.

Qualifications:

Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in land use planning and development, including three years of administrative and management responsibility;
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban or regional planning or a related field. A Master’s degree may be substituted for two years of experience.
