Salary:

$80,267.20 – $96,366.40 Annually.

Description:

The current vacancy is in the plans examining section which is responsible for: reviewing and approving building construction documents to ensure compliance with pertinent codes and ordinances; to provide assistance with permit process, code application, and code interpretation. The department is currently looking for a candidate with experience in plan review in any or all of the following areas: 1) Structural engineering components; 2) C.B.C Chapter 10 associated with means of egress and life safety; 3) C.B.C. Chapter 11B related to accessibility.

Qualifications:

Experience:
Three years of experience in building construction or engineering work which involved an understanding of building plans, codes and engineering calculations. At least one year of the three years of experience must have been in the public sector.

Education:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Course work in building or construction inspection, planning, land use, engineering or closely related field is highly desired.

License or Certificate:
Consistent with California State law must be certified as a Plans Examiner by the International Code Council (ICC).
DSA CASP certification is desirable.
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
