Description:

The Probation Officer I, working under close supervision, conducts investigations and prepares recommendations to the courts in probation cases involving adults or juveniles; supervises and counsels clients; and diverts offenders from further involvement in the justice system.

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year degree program from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, administration of justice, corrections, sociology, psychology, any of the behavioral sciences, or a closely related field.

Lateral transfer opportunities are available to applicants who are currently working or have previously worked as a full time Probation Officer for a California governmental agency. To be considered, in addition to prior Probation Officer experience, applicants must have taken and passed the California Probation Officer Examination. A copy of the official exam results (for example, the T-Score) issued by the local agency that administered the Probation Officer Examination must be provided to Napa County Human Resources along with the employment application
