Probation Officer II: $26.49 – $32.19 Hourly
Probation Officer III: $29.92 – $36.37 Hourly 

Description:

The Sonoma County Probation Department seeks experienced, professional Probation Officers in their Adult and Juvenile Divisions!

The Probation Department currently has several opportunities for individuals that have professional probation officer experience! The Department seeks individuals at the journey and lead levels who have experience with higher risk and more complex Probation cases, excellent written and oral communication skills, experience presenting oral and written reports before Courts, and working knowledge of evidence based principles and practices in Juvenile Justice, Probation, and Community Corrections.

Probation Officers investigate and prepare recommendations to the courts on probation cases involving adults and juveniles; assists in the training and supervision of subordinates in an assigned unit; and performs specialized assignments such as intake, intensive supervision, placement, and/or court officer. 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Probation Officer II:

1) Possession of a bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, criminology, administration of justice, or a closely related field, AND one year of experience in corrections, law enforcement, or social work, or

2) Significant academic course work in sociology, behavioral and social psychology, social casework, social welfare, counseling and guidance, or a closely related field AND two years of experience in corrections, law enforcement, or social work PLUS one year of full time professional probation experience.

Probation Officer III:

1) Possession of a bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, criminology, administration of justice, or a closely related field, AND one year of full time professional probation experience, or

2) Significant academic course work in sociology, behavioral and social psychology, social casework, social welfare, counseling and guidance, or a closely related field AND two years of experience in corrections, law enforcement, or social work PLUS one year of full time professional probation experience.
