Description:

The position of Program Director (Continuing Educator II) is charged with internal and external leadership as well as overall management responsibility of program, operations and personnel for the Resource Center for Family-Focused Practice. The Program Directors is an academic leader within the Center for Human Services and serves as the principal investigator for all work conducted by the Resource Center–providing important administrative review and oversight for this work. The position has the support of seven direct reports (including a team supervisor, a project manager and five subject matter experts) and a total of 14 team members. Calling on expertise in a broad array of issues confronting human services professionals and public agency officials, the position develops partnerships with a variety of clients to conduct professional needs assessments; create educational programs and training; conduct applied research; and provide other professional and organizational development services. The position is also responsible for developing and fostering strong and positive working relationships with partners and clients, including state and county social services program leaders, professional associations, instructors and campus faculty. The position reports to the Director of the Center for Human Services and supports the Director in achieving the goals of the Center through collaborative efforts with other unit managers—sharing resources and program opportunities and representing the Center as an integrated full service organization, both externally and internally. The position further contributes to the work of the Center through instructor recruitment and development, curriculum development, research, consultation, and training.

Qualifications:

• A master’s degree in social work, public administration, education, counseling, psychology or related discipline.
• At least five (5) years of experience working in child welfare services, juvenile probation or mental health in a public or community-based agency setting.
• At least three (3) years of management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership ability.
• Well-developed skills in managing personnel, programs and resources.
• Proven skill in developing teams and fostering collaboration with diverse partners.
• Broad knowledge of the human services delivered by public agencies in California.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to form successful relationships with diverse constituencies.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Experience establishing and maintaining budgets.
