The County of Orange – County Executive Office has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a communications professional with excellent judgment and varied communication skills. Background and understanding of the operations of municipal governments, as well as experience with elected officials and strategic communications is essential. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for a variety of pivotal assignments including serving as the County’s spokesperson; external and internal communications; standardization, best practices and corporate branding; public information and media relations; and developing and implementing strategic communication plans for major County initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned communications professional with a background and understanding of municipal governments. The candidate will lead the Communications Team within the Government & Community Relations division of the County Executive Office, providing strategic communications direction and counsel to departments, executives and elected officials, as well as facilitating open and thoughtful engagement with residents and stakeholders. The candidate will possess a proven track record of success in effective information exchange using various channels, including print and broadcast media, social media, websites, events and official public meetings.
This candidate will have experience in leading complex strategic initiatives in alignment with the mission and goals of the organization. This person will be proactive, innovative, confident and efficient and able to quickly analyze and condense into understandable terms complex governmental and administrative information. Knowledge of companion municipal, state and federal government agencies is highly desirable.
