Description:

The County of San Luis Obispo is seeking a highly experienced, innovative, responsive and high performing business professional to lead the County Public Works Department with a complement of skills including public works expertise, innovative management, customer focus and passion for excellence. This high profile position requires a strong, trustworthy and visionary leader who is committed to providing superior public service to the citizens of San Luis Obispo County. The new Public Works Director will work closely with the County Administrative office, and will be directly responsible for a Department of approximately 190 full-time employees.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience overseeing public works-related functions and managing capital improvement projects. A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, business administration, public administration or closely related field is required. A Master’s Degree in public administration is highly desirable. Public sector experience in local government is required; a combination of public and private sector experience will be considered favorably.
