San Mateo County has an excellent opportunity for a high energy professional to provide leadership and administration of the County purchasing program. Reporting to the Risk Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for forecasting trends, collaborating with departments to meet their needs, overseeing the County’s internal surplus property program and surplus property warehouse, and administering the County’s mail service.
The strategic thinker we seek will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, or related field, 4+ years of experience managing large, complex purchasing programs and staff, and 2 years of experience in a senior level administrative or management position. The successful candidate will be well-versed in the principles and practices of public purchasing and be able to conduct cost/benefit analysis to determine better use of resources. Excellent organizational, collaboration, team building and written/verbal communication skills are essential. A graduate degree or completed coursework in Business or Public Administration is preferred.
