Description:
We are accepting applications for Research and Special Projects
Manager for the Probation Department. This position may be filled
in any Probation location in the County and applicants must be
willing to accept assignment at any location.
The Research and Special Projects Manager is an at-will
management position which will oversee data collection policy and
practices throughout the Department, manage the development of
the Department strategic plan, advise the executive team on
policy issues related to criminal justice research and measure
progress toward department goals. This position offers a flexible
(9/80) work schedule after a year of employment.

programs to strengthen families, suppress gang activity, and
address alcohol and drug abuse as these behaviors contribute to

The ideal candidate will have:
-Familiarity with the criminal justice system including the
principles of evidenced based practices for community
corrections
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Experience effectively managing a diverse team
-Background of policy development and program implementation
-Success in inter-agency and community relations
-Outstanding analytical skills / ability to analyze data and
knowledge of principles of effective research methods
-Experience in project management and strategic planning
-Ability to make policy level decisions
-Great command of case management systems and knowledge of
computers and software
-Good understanding of budgeting and Federal funding process and
cycles
-Good understanding of professional associations related to
probation and community corrections
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in English, Business, Finance, Accounting,
Criminal Justice, Computer Science or related major and Three (3)
years experience grant writing and data/statistical analysis
which included overseeing subordinate staff, or
2. a combination of training, education, and experience that is
equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that
provides the required knowledge and abilities
Additional Requirements:
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License. Class C or
higher by the date of appointment
The successful candidate will be required to successfully
complete a comprehensive background investigation including
completion of a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) and
polygraph.
