Description:

The County of Sonoma is recruiting for one full-time vacancy with the Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association (SCERA). The Retirement Benefits Services Manager plans, organizes, directs, and manages the Member Services Section of the Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association, including the maintenance and control of records, computation of benefits, counseling of members, interpretation and application of regulations and laws governing retirement benefits administration, and management of the disability retirement claims process; supervises the maintenance of retirement records and the calculation of monthly benefit payments; provides work direction to subordinates; and performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Qualifications for this position normally include coursework in business administration, public administration, management, benefits administration, finance, economics, accounting, or closely related courses. Possession of a four year college degree or the possession of the CEBS professional certification in pension benefits administration which may be substituted for the required education; plus four years of increasingly responsible experience in benefits administration, including involvement with retirement benefits, preferably in a California government agency retirement office, including at least one year at a supervisory or management level. Experience in medical terminology with the ability to analyze complex medical data and computer experience is highly desirable.
