Lake County is seeking a Risk Management Program Coordinator/Risk Manager to join the County Counsel Office team. This position may be filled at either of the listed levels dependent upon the qualifications of the candidate selected.

Some of the responsibilities of this position include:
•Plan, organize, implement, and oversee comprehensive risk management, loss control, and safety programs, including worker’s compensation, general and auto liability, property, and medical malpractice programs
•Develop, evaluate, implement, and update risk management objectives, and policies and procedure
•Coordinate with County Counsel on potential liability and claims litigation
•Review schedule of values for completeness and accuracy of real and personal property
•Compile a variety of statistical and financial reports on costs, benefits, premiums, claims and other matters related to risk management programs
•Coordinate light duty process and return-to-work program with contract provider
•Make recommendations to County Counsel regarding the disposition of claims
•Develop and monitor effectiveness of safety programs, fire prevention systems, fire protection programs, and hazardous material identification and disposal programs
•Prepare and monitor budgets for general liability and worker’s compensation insurance funds
•Make presentations before the Board of Supervisors, County department heads, and other governmental agencies to present reports and make recommendations, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Risk Management Program Coordinator -
Education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Administration, Business Administration, Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Political Science, Economics, or related field. AND Three years of progressively responsible experience in performing a variety of responsible experience performing a wide variety of analytical and administrative tasks in risk management, worker’s compensation, occupational health and safety, employee benefits, employee leave of absence, and/or loss control programs, preferably in a public agency. Experience explaining complex information, and advising employees and departments on complex matters is strongly preferred. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s license.

Risk Manager
Education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Administration, Business Administration, Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Political Science, Economics, or related field. AND Three years of high-level responsible work experience, and demonstrated track record, in developing, establishing, coordinating, and administering a variety of complex programs and functions, which included programs related to risk management, worker’s compensation, occupational health and safety, and/or loss control, including experience effectively explaining complex information to, and advising employees, supervisors, and managers on complex matters, preferably in a public agency. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s license.
