The County of El Dorado is conducting this recruitment to fill one (1) full-time vacancy in the Human Resources Department - Risk Management Division located in Placerville. This recruitment will establish a list that may be used for a minimum of three months to fill future full-time vacancies in this department.


A Training and Experience Evaluation will be utilized to determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list. Based upon the information and materials provided in the application, the applicant’s education, answers to supplemental questions, training and experience will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula.

DEFINITION:
Under minimal direction, plans, organizes, coordinates and supervises a comprehensive risk management, loss control and employee benefit self-insurance and insurance program; performs complex administrative, budgeting, statistical and systems analysis of special projects and programs.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This class is responsible for managing and supervising the County’s risk management program by providing day-to-day direction for health benefits administration or disability management work, workers’ compensation investigation and resolution, injury investigation, and disability discrimination harassment and/or retaliation complaint investigation. The incumbent works with considerable discretion in development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with appropriate laws and regulatory standards, and in advising executive management in all aspects of risk management.

Qualifications:

Where college degrees and/or college course credits are required, degrees and college units must be obtained from an accredited college or university. Courses from non-accredited institutions will not be evaluated for this requirement.

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in public or business administration, accounting, or a related field,

Experience:
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in risk analysis, safety operations, claims adjustment, liability or workers compensation. Additional experience as outlined above, may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.
