Description:

The Modoc County Road Department has an opening for a Departmental Fiscal Officer. This position is distinguished from other fiscal and accounting classes in the County as the emphasis is cost accounting and is management-level responsibility for fiscal and business affairs of the Road Department. Needed skill in preparing, analyzing, reconciling cost centers, rates and variances, including but not limited to, labor clearing, equipment clearing, shop overhead, crew overhead, road construction, road maintenance, bridge construction, bridge maintenance, reimbursable work, acquisitions and inventory. In depth training period available, length dependent upon hire date.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of principles and practices of general, fund, governmental and grant accounting; principles and practices of Job Costing; principles and practices of Inventory Methods and accountability. Any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and skills is acceptable; Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, economics, business or public administration, or a field related to the work and two years of experience in a combination of accounting, budgetary and financial analysis and reporting, preferably in a public agency setting. Some lead supervisory experience is desirable. Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the education in a year for year basis to a maximum of two years. Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license.
