Description:

Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Accountant serves as an integral member of the Finance Department team and performs a wide variety of advanced accounting tasks. This position involves mentoring division staff, evaluating, monitoring and reviewing financial activities of the Authority, posting various entries related to the financial activities of the Authority, identifying a wide variety of potential financial issues related to the coverages provided by the Authority, making recommendations to assist members with financial related issues and providing written reports to the CFO (located in Sacramento).

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in directly related field or equivalent and five years directly related, technical experience including one year of supervision or lead responsibilities
• Public agency experience or insurance industry exposure
• Computer literate, with advanced knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word. Knowledge of Dynamics SL is a plus
• Mathematical aptitude, mastery of accounting principles and practices
• Effective written and verbal communication/customer service skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work Monday-Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
