Reporting to the County Administrator, the Senior Deputy County Administrator is responsible for managing administrative, budgetary, and financial activities and programs of operating departments. This Senior Deputy County Administrator will have primary responsibility for monitoring the programmatic and fiscal activities of the Public Protection functional area. which includes the following criminal justice departments: Office of the Sheriff, District Attorney, Public Defender and Criminal Conflict Defense, Probation and Fire Districts.

License Required: Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator’s license. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business, Public Administration, Finance or closely related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or its equivalent experience, which involved the analysis and review of budget and finance activities and the conduct of organizational studies in a public agency. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.
Experience Substitution: Possession of a master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance or closely related field may be substituted for six (6) months of the required experience.
