Description:

The Monterey County Resource Management Agency is seeking an experienced Senior Groundskeeper to perform grounds keeping tasks such as mowing, weed control, pruning and irrigation maintenance and serves a lead worker in training, coordinating and reporting on the work of other crew members of the work unit. This position will ensure that crewmembers are aware of and in compliance with established safety practices and procedures in the field.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
Will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

Working knowledge of:
1. Supplies, equipment, techniques, practices and procedures generally used for grounds maintenance, landscaping, and horticultural maintenance.
2. Grounds maintenance and landscaping methods, principles, procedures and techniques including, planting, cultivating, fertilizing, and growing of flowers, plants, shrubs, lawns and trees.
3. The proper use and application methods, materials and solutions of various pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and other chemical compositions to control common garden insects, rodents, weeds and other grounds maintenance/landscape uses; quarantine requirements of same.
4. Safe work practices related to the maintenance repair, operation, and of landscaped and paved areas.

Qualifications:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As a condition of employment, the incumbent will be required to:
·- Possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license at the time of appointment
· -Successfully pass a background investigation, oramodified background investigation
· -Must possess a California “Qualified Applicators Certificate” for pesticides issued by the CA Department of Food and Agriculture within one year of appointment
· -Incumbent may be required to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours
· -Duties may occasionally involve working in and around a jail facility or other secure areas
· -Successfully pass a physical evaluation and lift assessment
