The Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association seeks experienced retirement benefits professionals with a passion for outreach and public service!

This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy with the Sonoma County Employees’ Retirement Association (SCERA).

Retirement Benefits Specialist staff have a broad range of responsibilities, assisting SCERA members to understand and apply for retirement benefits. Typical duties include, but are not limited to, determining eligibility, estimating retirement benefits, and calculating and reviewing calculations of the final compensation component of the benefit formula.

Senior Retirement Benefits Specialists regularly perform the more complex duties and assignments. A primary focus for this assignment will be centered on developing and administering SCERA’s outreach and education efforts for members and beneficiaries. This position will be responsible for the development and delivery of formal presentations and training programs geared to help SCERA members understand their benefits. Additionally, this position will have a lead role in both the writing and production of SCERA’s newsletter and other publications, as well as for developing and managing benefits-related content for SCERA’s website.

Qualifications:

Qualifications for this position normally include coursework in public administration, business administration, management, benefits administration, finance, accounting, economics, paralegal, and/or human resources AND two years of responsible office support work experience involving contact with the public and reviewing or preparing legal-type documents including one year experience equivalent to Retirement Benefits Specialist II.
