Description:

Marin County has a full-time vacancy in Health & Human Services, Aging & Adult Services to provide first level supervision for Social Service Workers and Public Health Nurses performing Adult Protective Services and In-Home Supportive Services casework. The incumbent plans, assigns, supervises and evaluates the work of a unit of Aging and Adult Services staff, in addition to working in collaboration with other professionals, programs and agencies engaged in the delivery of social services.

The ideal candidate will have a background in social services and some supervisory or leadership experience. They will be familiar with programmatic regulations and requirements and have knowledge of community organizations and resources. They will enjoy working with staff and community partners, and occasionally interacting with program recipients. The ideal candidate will exhibit outstanding communication skills and possess qualities including initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work very independently as well as collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. In addition, the ideal candidate will be very organized, have excellent interpersonal skills, and will show the ability to approach their work with creativity, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to providing a high level of staff support and customer service. 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and skills listed in the class specification. Typically, equivalent to a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in sociology, psychology, social work, social welfare, counseling or a closely related field. OR a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience providing social services at a level equivalent to a Marin County Child Welfare Worker II, Social Service Worker II or Eligibility Worker II. Depending upon education, the work experience must have included work in adult social services, including Adult Protective Services for aged, disabled or dependent adults, In-Home Supportive Services or information and referral.
