The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services (H&HS) are announcing a recruitment for the position of Social Service Worker II Bilingual (Spanish/English). There is one full-time vacancy in the CalWORKs unit.

The Social Service Worker II Bilingual provides services to families in the CalWORKs program with multiple barriers to employment. The typical tasks include interviewing adults and their families, assessing needs and evaluating problems and case situations, making recommendations and/or referrals for services and making home visits; developing a plan to facilitate the appropriate delivery of services to CalWORKs clients and families; collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and community partners to meet case objectives in providing appropriate support services; acting as a client advocate; and assisting in establishing community resources.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience performing social work activities. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a diverse population of various socio-economic backgrounds. The ideal candidate must have experience working with clients with multiple barriers to employment. Written and oral communication skills should be excellent. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and be self-directed. The candidate must have excellent judgment and decision making skills, be able to serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team, be well-versed in community resources, have excellent computer and documentation skills, as well as excellent work habits. They must be able to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment and be able to manage an occasional crisis. 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: EITHER possession of a Master’s Degree in Social Work OR a Master’s Degree in a two year counseling program by time of appointment, OR possession of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with coursework related to the field and four years of journey level social casework experience of which two years were in social services at a level comparable to the County’s class of Social Service Worker I or Social Service Worker I – Bilingual. Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish/English is required.
