The County of Mono is seeking an experienced and innovative professional to become the Social Services Director. The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced social services manager and an effective leader who will work collaboratively with county government, public assistance, employment services, adult services, child protective services and senior services; to be responsible for fiscal management, personnel management, program planning, program evaluation, and public and political relations; to represent Department activities, programs, and services with community organizations, and other government agencies. This is a Department Head classification for the position, which has overall management responsibility for the Social Services Department, including senior services programs.
The county seat is in Bridgeport and is located approximately 360 miles North of Los Angeles and 183 miles South East of Sacramento. The County of Mono is isolated in the Sierra Nevada mountains and known for the Mammoth Lakes ski area, the hauntingly beautiful Mono Lake and the historic ghost town of Bodie.
The Social Services Director must be a strategic thinker with an innovative and creative approach to organizational management and service delivery. Considered a consensus builder, this individual will manage with an open and approachable personal style and excel in interpersonal relationships. The Director will inspire others to reach and achieve goals by setting an example of the highest level of professionalism.
1. Broad and extensive professional working in public agency human services program; including five (5) years in a management or supervisory capacity.
2. Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration, social services or a closely related field is required.
3. Possession of a Master’s Degree in public or business administration, social services or a closely related field is highly desirable. Five (5) years of experience in a management or supervisory position may be substituted for the Master’s Degree.
