Description:

The County of El Dorado is conducting this recruitment to fill one full time vacancy for the Assessor’s Office located in Placerville. It will also establish a list, for up to three (3) months, which may be used to fill future full-time, part-time and extra-help vacancies.

DEFINITION
Under direction, plans, schedules, coordinates and participates in the activities and projects related to business property valuation and taxation; ensures that all business property is accurately and equitably assessed.

DEISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This class is the full supervisory level in the Auditor/Appraiser series. The incumbent plans, organizes, schedules, assigns and directs the work of professional auditor/appraisal and support staff. This class is distinguished form Assistant Assessor in that the latter administers all appraisal activities, assessment office support, mapping and drafting, and standards control as well as business property appraisals.

Qualifications:

Where college degrees and/or college course credits are required, degrees and college units must be obtained from an accredited college or university. Courses from non-accredited institutions will not be evaluated for this requirement.

Equivalent to graduation form a four year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, real estate, business administration or a closely related field, AND three years of professional business auditing and appraisal experience at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Auditor/Appraiser II. Lead or supervisory experience is desirable.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance meeting legal requirements. Must possess or immediately apply for a temporary appraiser’s certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization (R & T Code section 670). Must obtain a valid appraiser’s certificate within one year of employment and maintain certifications thereafter.
